Some things common: Big B and SRK!

Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are the two biggest names in the Hindi film industry today. But the similarity doesn’t end there...

Both made their debut at the age of 27. Amitabh with Saat Hindustani (1969) and Shah Rukh with Deewana (1992). Amitabh Bachchan hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati and was succeeded by Shah Rukh Khan.

Both Amitabh and Shah Rukh have got a wax statuette at the prestigious Madame Tussauds’ museum. Amitabh’s was unveiled in June 2000 and SRK’s in April 2007.
Amitabh endorses Chawanprash and so does SRK! Both endorse suitings too.

Bachchan sported a pony tail in his recent release Cheeni Kum, SRK is presently seen with one!

Amitabh worked his magic with Don (1978) and Shah Rukh with the remake (2006). Both are big hits with their respective generations.

The two did not hesitate from playing grey characters early in their career and succeeded - Amitabh played Vijay Verma in Deewar (1975) and Shah Rukh Vicky Malhotra in Baazigar (1993).

The superstars share a common passion for cars. Bachchan owns 11 cars in all which includes a Lexus, two BMWs and three Mercedes Benz. Shah Rukh is fond of BMWs and owns a number of them, including the latest model.

Neither of the two had a godfather in the industry or a hero-like image yet made it big.

Amitabh’s Sholay ran for 286 weeks straight in a Mumbai theatre, the Minerva. Shah Rukh’s DDLJ is still running at Maratha Mandir, eight years after its release!

So now we have a decent idea of what it takes to be a superstar!
