Bend it like John Abraham - Goal

What could not come true in real life for John Abraham , it has come true on reel.

When John was a teenager, he had two passions – motorbikes and football. And he was pretty good at both.

In school, John was the captain of his football team. The love for the game continued in college and he even toyed with the idea of becoming a footballer. But he abandoned the thought because the game has little money in India. Instead John opted for an MBA course.

Over all these years, John continued his passion for bikes and also played a clever bike-riding thief in Dhoom . But he regretted missing out on his other passion – football.

Now, his other dream has also been fulfilled, albeit in a film. When John got the offer to play a footballer in Vivek Agnihotri’s film Goal , he lapped up the offer immediately.

Years of being out of touch with football had made John a bit rusty at the game. So he dedicatedly underwent training under Andy Ansah, former English Premier League striker. Within weeks, John was adept once again in football.

John says there are many scenes in the film in which he got to flaunt his skills at dribbling and dodging. The actor hopes his fans would love to see him doing those tricks on the football field.

‘Goal’ also stars Arshad Warsi , Bipasha Basu and Boman Irani . The film is directed by Vivek Agnihotri .
