Kareena and John together in Rumi Jaffery's next

The duo is set to come together in script-writer-turned-filmmaker Rumi Jaffery’s next, yet untitled romantic comedy.

We hear that Kareena has already signed the film and John has agreed in principle.

A reliable source informs, “It was very unlikely that John and Kareena would work together. However, the status seems to have changed.”

Bipasha and Kareena’s catfight on the sets of Ajnabee (2001) is almost legendary. Obviously, Kareena took a dislike for John and didn’t have kind words to offer on Koffee With Karan’s second season. She called John ‘expressionless’ and her former boyfriend Shahid Kapur also added that she would never be paired with him.

The other theory doing the rounds is that John managed to offend Kareena further by saying that he would choose Rani Mukerji over Kareena, again on Koffee With Karan . John had further added, “Kareena is a sweet girl and if she has problems with Bipasha, then why is she involving me in this?”

Sources indicate that by roping in John, director Rumi may have invited trouble for himself. The leading man of his debut film, God Tussi Great Ho and close friend Salman Khan is not too fond of John and will surely express his displeasure. A source close to Rumi adds, “Rumi is apprehensive about Salman’s reaction. He will definitely, not appreciate the fact that Rumi is working with John, who is one of his bitter enemies in the industry.

John says, “Yes, I have met Rumi Jaffrey and I have liked his script. In all probability I will do the film.” When asked him about his rivalry with Kareena, he says, “I have nothing like that in my mind and it does not affect me. I like the script and that’s why I will be doing the film.”

Rumi Jaffrey continues to be tight-lipped. He says, “I have finalised Kareena for the film but the male lead is not yet finalised.”

Parag Desai, spokesperson of the production house says, “Yes we have met John for the film and he has liked the subject. He was busy with the promotions of Goal and that’s why we will be meeting him after the release of Goal to finalise the rest of the details.”
