Akshay Kumar's Welcome in the list of top opening Week Box office Collection

Akshay Kumar is now easily in the breathing space of Shahrukh Khan as far as box office pull is concerned. Response to his latest release WELCOME is testimony to that.

Barely a few weeks after Shahrukh Khan's OM SHANTI OM made 40 crores in its opening week amidst all the hype and hoopla, Akshay's WELCOME too has achieved a close fate even with far lesser hype and media circus. The film has opened in the range of 35 crores (though final figures are awaited and should be available during the middle of the week), hence making it's place in one of the Top-3 highest openers of all times.

Earlier DHOOM:2 had opened at 35 crores and there isn't much margin between DHOOM:2 and WELCOME. With the film holding up exceedingly well even in the second week with neither SHOWBIZ nor RETURN OF HANUMAN making any dent at the box office, theaters across the country are continuing to sing WELCOME for this Anees Bazmee film.
