The ShahRukh Khan – Deepika Padukone starrer Om Shanti Om stayed in the UK top ten for two weeks, and collected a record 19 million dollars in its opening week.At least five other Bollywood films made it to the UK top ten. This impressive feat was achieved despite screening minimum prints and negligible publicity.
According to industry sources, Akshay Kumar starrer Welcome has done well in the UAE.
"On 29 prints, the Indian Films-Studio18 Eid release is said to have opened to an unprecedented AED 450,000 (USD 1,22,482)," the sources said.
With Chak De India and ‘Om Shanti Om’, the King Khan has proved that he is firmly entrenched on his throne.
