Two production houses fighting for one movie Johnny Walker

Two production houses are at loggerheads over making the film Johnny Walker for which Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu were finalized.

The project originally belongs to Percept Picture Company (PPC) that had roped in director Shoojit Sircar to direct the film. However, things began to go awry after creative differences cropped between Sircar and Shailendra Singh of PPC.

Reportedly, Sircar has opted out of the PPC project, has worked on a new story on a similar subject, given it a new title, and approached UTV to produce the film. Not just the subject, Sircar even wants the same cast – Big B, Tabu and Arjun Rampal in the UTV film.

This has irked Shailendra Singh who claims to own the rights to the movie. Shailendra has approached directors Nagesh Kukunoor and Madhur Bhandarkar to direct the film. A copy of the script has also been sent to Anil Kapoor with an offer for the main lead in the film.

Shailendra Singh wants to start the film early next year and he is adamant that he won’t let any other production house make ‘Johnny Walker’.

Officials at UTV refuse to say anything about the star cast or the story of Sircar’s film or whether it has any resemblance to PPC’s ‘Johnny Walker’.
