Time for item boys in Bollywood

It is time for item boys to take over in Bollywood.

Take a bow, all you item girls. Your cleavages and midriffs may no longer thrill a moviegoer. The trend of six-pack-abs is spreading faster than fire, and Bollywood’s pin-up stars are now becoming the latest item boys.

Shah Rukh Khan is emerging as the king of item numbers. Even if we don’t go back to his item in home production Kaal eons ago, SRK was a scene-stealer when he shook his leg to the peppy track Mast Kalandar in Heyy Babyy last year. Now, he has got his socks pulled up for another item song. This time it is for Rakesh Roshan’s home production Krazy 4 . Sources say it is a mind-blowing dance track composed by Rajesh Roshan and sung by Vishal Dadlani.

Speaking of the Roshans, there is a possibility that Hrithik Roshan may also do an item in ‘Krazzy 4’ if his knee is fully recuperated in time.

And then there is Abhishek Bachchan who will be doing a sizzling item in Apoorva Lakhia’s film Mission Istanbul . It is learnt that the song will feature Abhishek with several female Turkish dancers. Anu Malik has given an Arabic flavour to the music to suit the song’s setting.

Also jumping on the item boy bandwagon is Tusshar Kapoor who has strutted his stuff (if any) in a rocking track in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming comedy Sunday .

On the other hand, Bollywood actresses are turning cold shoulders to offers of dance tracks. The likes of Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu have expressed their disinterest in any more item songs after their ‘Its Rocking’ and ‘Phoonk De’ last year. Only Rakhi Sawant is still game for items, but who wants to see her.

The writing is on the wall. Item boys have arrived in Bollywood, and item gals are making their exit.
