John and Vidya had paired together as husband and wife in Advani’s three-plus hours long superdud Salaam-e-Ishq . Advani has plans to make yet another love story starring John and Vidya in lead roles, but the movie appears to have been shelved because John has opted out of the project.




While the reason for John’s departure from the project is still unclear, rumour has it that Bipasha Basu , John’s girlfriend, was not in favour of her beau working with Vidya.

It can be recalled that during the shooting of ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ there were many rumours of sparkling chemistry between John and Vidya. The two were romantically linked and the rumours had indeed troubled Bipasha.

So John’s doing another film with Vidya might not have pleased Bipasha and therefore the actor chose to bow out of the project than to make things complicated in his relationship with Bips.

Though John’s last few releases like No Smoking and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal were box-office turkeys, the actor is pinning hope on Aashayein , a Nagesh Kukunoor film with loads of emotions and a message to boot. The film has John playing a gambler who gets reformed after a tragic development.

John also plays a parallel role with Abhishek Bachchan in Dostana .
