The makers of Abhishek Bachchan-starrer Drona are facing a second rejection. The search for an item girl who will gyrate along with the end credits of the film, is far from over. Apparently, the latest choice for item numbers is Bipasha Basu. However, speculations are rife that the sultry actress is not too keen on taking up the offer. A reliable source says, “They are in talks with Bipasha. But she has issues with doing the item number.”

After Bipasha’s ‘Bidi jalai le’ and the more recent ‘Phookh de’ act, she has become the unanimous choice of the producers. The actress though, is sceptical about the promotional efforts and eventually the fate of the song. A source explains, “The film primarily revolves around Abhishek (Bachchan) and Priyanka (Chopra). So, she is concerned about the importance attached to her item number.” The source further adds, “Her latest item number ‘Phookh de’ along with beau John Abraham was given enormous publicity. She had agreed to feature in the item song because of her closeness to the producers Vishal Bharadwaj and Kumar Mangat.”

Not so long ago Aishwarya Rai had wriggled out of the same offer of item number for reasons best known to her. When quizzed about it, producer Shrishti Arya refused to comment. All that she said was, “Who told you all this?”
Bipasha Basu was not available for comment.
